Welcome to another edition of Vectors to Final! (Text Recap)
This week, we've got plenty of exciting updates, bug fixes, and even a special Q&A session with one of our key team members, Justice McCracken. Let's dive in!
Watch the weekly live dev stream below!
Weekly Updates
Bug Fixes:
42 Bugs Fixed: Most were ATC-related, including fixing the bug where ATC would instruct pilots to turn to a heading of 370. Forward progress continues as we fix old issues while occasionally introducing new ones.
Runway Requests: Fixed a bug where special runway requests during arrival weren't being granted.
Vectoring Direct-Two Fixes: Improvements made to IFR arrival logic, reducing issues like impossible turns when approaching a fix.
New Features:
Comm Logs with Audio Replay: Pilots can now replay all ATC communication audio from their flights through the Comm logs on the website.
App Version 2.6.2.0: Released with new scaffolding features called "Sidecar" for future enhancements. No significant changes visible to users yet.
AI Cabin Crew Updates: Seven new cabin crew personalities added, including Dutch Peter, Victoria, and even "Your Mom," who’s always proud of you!
Performance Improvements:
Response Times: Response times have significantly improved, with an average of 4.6 seconds, down from 17 seconds in January. Our goal is to maintain realistic ATC response times between 4-5 seconds.
Voice Enhancements:
Voice System Overhaul: An ongoing review and refinement of AI voices to ensure they sound realistic and consistent. Some crowd-sourced voices may be removed if they don’t meet quality standards.
Ongoing Projects:
Early Traffic Injection: A major project in the works to bring more traffic into the air without increasing costs. We're aiming to do this creatively, ensuring no price hikes.
Navigraph Data Integration: The new V2 data from Navigraph is being integrated to resolve airspace ownership issues, particularly in complex areas like the UK.
Dynamic Departures: Continued work on dynamic departure procedures to enhance realism in ATC operations.

Q&A with Justice McCracken
Q: Tell us about your role at SayIntentions.
Justice: I’m primarily focused on AI voice engineering, ensuring our voices are diverse and realistic. I also manage the affiliate program, oversee blogs and marketing, and am involved in the commercial branch targeting flight schools and simulators.
Q: How did you get into flight simulation?
Justice: I’ve always been interested but didn’t have access growing up. As an adult, I finally had the space and resources, so I jumped in with a Logitech yoke and pedals and never looked back.
Q: What’s the biggest challenge with AI voices?
Justice: Balancing accents and quality is tough. We’ve got over 600 live voices now, and when you consider all the different languages, it’s closer to 8,000 variations. It’s a huge, ongoing effort to make them sound as realistic as possible.
Q: Any personal aviation goals?
Justice: I’m working towards starting my Private Pilot License (PPL) in 5-10 years. I’m educating myself now, using flight sims to practice, and absorbing as much as I can from our amazing community.
Q: How do you see SayIntentions evolving?
Justice: We’re on the cutting edge, often pushing beyond what current technology can support. It’s a team effort, and I’m excited to see how far we can take this platform. The work we’re doing now is setting the stage for even more innovative features in the future.
Thank you for tuning in this week! We appreciate your continued support and feedback as we strive to make SayIntentions the best AI ATC platform available. Don't forget to join our Discord for more updates, and we'll see you next Thursday on Vectors to Final!
