We had a blast at FSWeekend 2025 sharing what we’ve been building. In case you missed our devcast (or couldn’t make it to Lelystad), here’s a recap of the major announcements we unveiled. We’re keeping it casual – from one flight sim nerd to another – so let’s dive into the cool stuff coming to SayIntentions.AI. And a special welcome to the new folks we met at FSWeekend!

New AI Traffic Injection & Sequencing System – “AI Living World”

Our traffic system got a complete rewrite. We’re calling it AI Living World, and it’s designed to make every airport feel truly alive. Each AI aircraft injected into your sim is now its own individual AI pilot with unique behavior. In practical terms, ATC treats AI planes exactly like human pilots – no more “user aircraft gets priority” bias. Every plane has to wait its turn, follow instructions, and even go around if necessary (yes, the AI might steal your landing slot if you’re slow on final!).

The system pulls real-world schedules and gate assignments to spawn traffic that matches actual airline operations at that airport and time. It also adapts to live weather – so if the winds flipped the active runway, the AI traffic will start using the correct flow just like real ops

We didn’t stop there. The new system packs over 1,000 distinct AI pilot voices recorded or contributed by the community. Each AI pilot will even speak with the accent of their airline or region – imagine taxiing at Frankfurt and hearing Lufthansa crews with German accents, or Aussie drawls from Qantas pilots. It’s subtle but adds a ton of immersion.

And despite all these new smarts, you won’t need a supercomputer to enjoy it – a lot of the heavy AI processing is handled in the cloud for better performance on your end. We’re super proud of how dynamic and unpredictable traffic feels now compared to the old static patterns.

AI Living World (Phase 1) goes live to our Partner Program members on April 15, 2025 as an early access preview. We can’t wait for you to try it out and give us feedback as we continue to refine the next phases (ground traffic, advanced sequencing, etc.) in the coming months.

OpenSky – Free AI ATC for Everyone

This one’s for all the pilots who’ve been curious about AI ATC but not ready to dive into a paid plan: OpenSky is our completely free, AI-powered ATC expansion, and we’re making it available to more of you.

OpenSky provides full IFR, gate-to-gate air traffic control coverage using the same voice recognition and AI tech behind our premium service – but at zero cost. It’s 100% cloud-based, meaning all the ATC brains run on our servers with no hit to your FPS or CPU/GPU. You just connect and talk; the cloud does the heavy lifting.

Despite being free, OpenSky packs plenty of features. It’s completely voice-driven - no clunky menus - and handles IFR comms in a natural way. It’s ready for MSFS 2024 with integrated EFB tools, and it even works well in VR. You still get authentic regional phraseology (ICAO or FAA), real-world taxi instructions and frequencies through Navigraph, and convenient SimBrief integration for loading your route and following the correct SIDs/STARs - all without leaving the cockpit.

Because it runs on a more limited AI model, OpenSky has fewer voice options than Premium (about one-tenth the variety). Think of it as the core brains of our full ATC system, focused on IFR flights, without the extra crew and VFR features. It’s a solid choice if you want to sample AI-driven ATC without committing to the premium subscription.

SkyNet Multiplayer Network - Connected Flying, Minus the Trolls

The multiplayer announcement at FSWeekend got a lot of cheers. SkyNet is our new real-time, cross-platform multiplayer network built to integrate tightly with SayIntentions.AI. In simpler terms, SkyNet lets you see and fly with other pilots using our system, with a focus on ease-of-use and realism.

It’s a drop-in replacement for the default MSFS multiplayer: just enable SkyNet and you’ll be in the same world as other SayIntentions pilots. The cool part is it uses our AI-based model matching, so you’ll actually see other players in the correct aircraft model and livery . If someone is flying a Delta 737, you’ll see a Delta 737 – if you have that model/livery in your collection, of course. We leverage AI to pick the best match if you don’t have the exact one. (Requires FSLTL Models)

SkyNet is also cross-version and cross-platform. As of now it works with MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 seamlessly – pilots on either sim can see each other and fly together. We’ve also got X-Plane 11/12 support on the roadmap, so in the future this network will connect pilots across different sims, all in one world.

Now, we know online networks can sometimes suffer from folks not playing nice. SkyNet has built-in anti-troll protection using a bit of AI supervision. If a user starts doing weird stuff like slewing all over, pausing mid-air, or zooming around at 600 knots on a Cessna, the system will automatically put them in a temporary “time out.” In other words, their actions won’t affect others until they return to normal behavior.

SkyNet is live now for all our current customers – that means if you have SayIntentions Premium, Entourage, or you’re in OpenSky beta, you already have access.

**SkyNet will be opened up free to the entire flight sim community by early Summer 2025. Our vision is to make it a free network where anyone can join and experience a populated sky with intelligent ATC, without needing a subscription or specific service tier.

Checklist Phase 2 – Smarter, Dynamic Checklists

A quick teaser for those of you who love our AI Co-Pilot: Checklist Phase 2 is on the horizon, and it’s going to make cockpit flows even more seamless. In the current version, our AI co-pilot can run through checklists with you, but it’s fairly linear – it reads an item, you respond, and so on. Phase 2 takes this to the next level by making checklists dynamic and context-aware. What does that mean? For starters, the AI co-pilot will actually verify the aircraft state for each item. If the checklist says “Flaps – Up,” the co-pilot will glance at the flap position data to make sure they are indeed up before moving on. If something’s not right, they can pause and prompt you or even perform the action if you’ve delegated that. It’s like having a real first officer double-checking your work.

The new checklist system will also allow voice triggers and interactions. You can say “Let’s run the Before Start checklist,” and your virtual co-pilot will kick it off, reading each challenge and waiting for your spoken response or for the condition to be met. If you’re busy (or just feeling lazy!), you can even ask the AI to handle both sides of the checklist – they’ll speak both the challenge and response using appropriate flows, while still verifying everything. Essentially, Phase 2 makes the checklist feature far more immersive, moving away from “scripted sequence” and towards a natural flow you’d experience with a human crew. We’re also looking to make the checklists adaptable to different aircraft and custom procedures. The original implementation was one-size-fits-all, but we know a Cessna’s checklist is very different from a 737’s. The improved system will load aircraft-specific lists and even allow some user customization, so you get the right calls for the right bird.

This feature is still in development, but we shared some early details during the devcast because we’re hyped about it. It addresses a lot of feedback from Phase 1 (like wanting the AI to catch if you forgot a step, rather than blindly reading on). We think it’ll add a lot to training scenarios – imagine practicing flows with an AI that actually checks your work! Stay tuned for more info on Checklist Phase 2 as we progress.

Our Priorities Going Forward: Bug Fixes, Traffic Improvements & What’s Next

After all these exciting new features, you might be wondering, “Okay, but what about polishing what’s already there?” Don’t worry – we hear you. Our top priority remains squashing bugs and improving stability. Many of us on the dev team are simmers ourselves, so we know how a tiny bug can ruin an otherwise great flight. We’ve been diligently collecting your bug reports (shout out to everyone who has submitted detailed feedback) and we’re working through them. Expect a series of updates focused purely on fixes and quality-of-life tweaks, especially around ATC logic quirks and any crashes or audio glitches. A better, smoother experience for all of you is goal number one.

As for what’s next beyond that – we have a lot of ideas, and the community’s suggestions are a huge part of that brainstorming. One area we’re exploring is further cross-sim compatibility (so that MSFS and X-Plane users can truly interact in one world, including ATC hand-offs between sims). We’re also experimenting with more AI-driven crew interactions (expanding on things like our Tour Guide and Mentor features). And of course, we have a few secret projects cooking that we’re not quite ready to talk about yet. 😉 Just know that we’re not resting on our laurels. Now that FSWeekend is over, it’s back to the code mines for us!

To everyone – our long-time users, new pilots-in-training joining us, and those who just discovered us at FSWeekend – thank you for your support and enthusiasm. This community fuels our development and keeps us striving to do better. We hope you’re as excited as we are about these new features and improvements. We’ll continue to share progress updates and listen to your feedback every step of the way. In the meantime, enjoy the new content, fly safe (but have fun), and we’ll see you on the network!
