Introducing the SIM API - Integrating Any Flight Sim with SayIntentions

Hello everyone! We’ve got some exciting news. We’ve always been proud of how our ATC system works seamlessly across multiple simulators - Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020 and 2024), X-Plane (11 and 12), P3D (V5 and V6) - all by using only basic telemetry data like altitude, heading, airspeed, and transponder activation. This approach mirrors real-world ATC, where controllers primarily see radar returns plus a few details your transponder provides.

Now, we’re taking that same flexible design a step further by introducing our new SIM API. This new API makes it possible for any flight simulator that can export telemetry data to connect directly into the SayIntentions ecosystem. By writing a simple adapter - often just a few hours of coding if you’re used to exporting sim variables - you can feed those 15–20 essential data fields (like altitude and heading) to the SayIntentions app.

Because the adapter can be written in any language (C++, C#, Python - whatever you like), virtually any simulator can be connected, including some of the lesser-known or even commercial training sims out there. That means new communities, new experiences, and a bigger variety of simulated traffic - and you can imagine how exciting that is, both for current and prospective pilots. For more details on how to build such an adapter, just visit:

We look forward to seeing the creative ways you connect your favorite flight sims with SayIntentions. Jump into our Discord if you have questions - we’ll be happy to help!

Help Build the World’s Largest Collection of AI Pilot Voices

While we’re thrilled about our new SIM API, we’re even more pumped about the upcoming AI-injected aircraft, set to arrive on April 15 for partners (and soon after for Premium subscribers). You’ve probably heard about our CrowdVoice initiative for donating controller voices - but guess what? We’re also using it to create a vast library of pilot voices for these new AI planes!

Why Is This So Exciting?

Imagine not just a handful of pilots in your sim skies, but hundreds - each with a truly unique voice. No more repetitive radio chatter or similar ATC/Pilot voices; this will be an immersive experience that makes every flight feel alive. In real skies, you hear countless accents and voice characteristics; soon, you’ll get that same variety in your virtual airspace!

We already have over 1,500 customer-donated voices, with 700+ approved for use as pilot voices. Our goal is to soar beyond 1,000 unique pilot voices - four times more than all competing ATC products combined. When you fly with SayIntentions, you’ll not only enjoy a massive variety of ATC controllers, but also an incredible roster of AI-driven pilot voices, each bringing its own flair to radio communications.

How You Can Join the Fun

  1. Open the SayIntentions Settings Page in your app.
  2. https://portal.sayintentions.ai/portal/settings/
  3. Scroll to “CrowdVoice.”
  4. Switch the dropdown to “YES.”
  5. Specify your accent (e.g., American, British, Australian - whatever suits you!).

That’s it! By donating your voice, you’re helping make the skies busier, more authentic, and a whole lot more exciting. Every new voice helps us push realism to new heights - you might even hear a voice derived from your own recordings during flights!

Why It Matters

In real skies, there’s a constant variety of accents and voices coming over the radio. By donating yours, you’re making our AI-driven traffic even more exciting for everyone. More aircraft, more unique voices, more realistic chatter - all powered by the community.

We hope you’ll join us in pushing past our next milestone of 1000+ unique pilot voices. It’s an ambitious goal, but with your help, we’ll get there fast. And it’s a great way to play a direct role in bringing more energy and realism to your virtual airspace.

Thanks for reading, and we look forward to hearing you on the (virtual) airwaves soon!
